Police Day (Día del Carabinero)

April 27 marks the anniversary of Chile’s police force, the Carabineros. The national police force was founded on April 27, 1927 by General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo by uniting the regional and local police forces into a nationalized organization. The carabineros are tasked with maintaining public order and enforcing laws.
