Chilean Site Boasts World’s Longest Domain Name
A Chilean website claims they have the longest domain name in the world. Is this true?
Well, yes. However, they aren’t the only ones.
A website domain name like pepeschile.com or joeskitchen.com can have up to 63 characters before the domain name extension (in this case .com).
A site based in Buin, Chile boasts their domain name is the world’s longest:
buintierradefrutashermosasrosasbuenosvinosairepuroyverdescampos.com
Here are the words in the world’s longest domain name with English translation:
buin (Buin)
tierra (land)
de (of)
frutas (fruits)
hermosas rosas (beautiful roses)
buenos vinos (fine wines)
aire puro (pure air)
y (and)
verdes campos (green fields)
I like that the domain name is very descriptive of the Buin, Chile area where I spent 7 months as a missionary. Buin is indeed a very lovely place and offers a nice break from the busy and polluted Santiago which sits 35 kilometers to the North.
