Chilean Pan de Pascua Recipe (Christmas Bread)
One staple of Christmas in Chile is Pan de Pascua, or literally, Christmas bread.
Since Chileans use both the words “Navidad” and “Pascua” interchangeably for Christmas, this bread might literally translate to “Easter bread” but it is eaten at Christmas time.
Chileans enjoy eating this bread every year during Christmas time. Pan de Pascua is frequently accompanied by the traditional cola de mono drink (Chile’s version of eggnog).
This bread is better than the fruit cake that makes the rounds at Christmas time in the United States. Where fruitcake is often dreaded or even re-gifted to others, Chile’s Pan de Pascua is a family favorite and enjoyed by all.
