Transantiago - Santiago’s Modern Public Transportation

Police Day (Día del Carabinero)

April 27 marks the anniversary of Chile’s police force, the Carabineros. The national police force was founded on April 27, 1927 by General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo by uniting the regional and local police forces into a nationalized organization. The carabineros are tasked with maintaining public order and enforcing laws.

Obligatory Military Service to End

Recent reports out of Chile look promising:

Moving Glaciers in Search of Gold

Recent news indicates that Barrick Gold Corp. will be mining gold from high in the Andes Mountains. The impressive part of this announcement is that they’ll be moving glaciers to reach their objective.
