is crowned with the words "REPUBLIC OF CHILE" ("REPÚBLICA
DE CHILE") on the ring. The mint mark sits to the right of center,
laurels form the bottom of the ring.
Reverse: The number "500" is centered below which sits
the word "PESOS" and the date of minting. At the top of the
ring a five pointed star with the coin's edges engraved with laurel
branches.
